Founded by Sue and John Reece MBE, The LGA Foundation is a North East family charitable trust committed to improving health, wellbeing and opportunities for people across Tyneside and South Northumberland. The LGA Foundation supports grassroots charities and community organisations that are making a tangible difference to the lives of local people, with a particular focus on vulnerable young people and initiatives that help people lead healthier, happier lives.
By providing grants to charities of all sizes, The LGA Foundation helps organisations deliver projects focused on mental health, food poverty, alternative education, community wellbeing, access to sport, youth development and social inclusion. The LGA Foundation believes that local charities are uniquely placed to understand the needs of their communities and create lasting, meaningful change where it matters most.
The Foundation has supported a wide range of organisations across the region, enabling them to expand services, reach more people and respond to emerging community needs and beyond funding, it is passionate about building long-term relationships with charities and working alongside other funders to maximise impact.
As sponsor of the Small Charity of the Year award the LGA Foundation is proud to celebrate the dedication, innovation and resilience of the region's smaller charities, recognising the invaluable role they play in strengthening communities and improving lives every day.
